Our Story

As alive as the farm it came from.

We're relaunching The CityFarms CSA to bring truly fresh, locally-grown produce back to Harlem and Bed-Stuy. Below is the reverse-chronology of how this Saturday's box came to be — packed to planted.

    Packing & Delivery

    Boxes lined with kraft paper, cooled overnight, and stacked into the van by 5am Saturday.

  2. Yesterday

    Harvest at first light

    First heirloom tomatoes of the season — Cherokee Purples, Green Zebras, and 4.2 lbs of Sun Golds.

  3. Last month

    Growing through the heat

    Drip irrigation running dawn and dusk. Basil hedges came in strong; second lettuce succession up.

  4. March 2026

    Planting & seeding

    Trays of tomato, pepper, kale, and chard starts under grow lights in the barn.

One $50 membership. Then weekly payments.

Simple and in three steps: a one-time $50 membership fee today, weekly share payments starting Saturday, August 8, 2026, and your first pickup or delivery on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Why there's a membership fee

  • It secures our farmer cooperative members. Farmers are asked to grow for buyers all the time, only to have it fall through. Membership makes the commitment mutual.
  • It covers the managerial realities of running the share — routing, packing, hub logistics and coordination.
  • It gives producers a real member count, so they know exactly how much to sow, harvest, prepare and pack.
  • The payments leading up to delivery day pay the cooperative producers in advance, so their expenses are covered before the first box moves.
